OK, I know Bono's done some crazy things. Hell, he wanted to go to
Sarajevo during the war, the day after the city had been the target of
some heavy-duty ammunition......but during the JT tour I was a health
informatics student. You know, we kept the patients' charts, and all of
that good stuff. It's illegal for any health professional to disclose
any health info about a patient without their *written* consent on a
release of information sheet. Period. Some idiot here in Birmingham got
his employer sued by divulging someone's health info without his
permission. It's *extremely* unprofessional for any doctor to spill the
beans about any of their patients, I don't care who it is. That's
practically asking for a lawsuit in the U.S, where we have so much
litigation against doctors. That guy who made those claims probably had
his history reviewed by the peer review committee in the state, and most
likely got penalized big time. This sort of thing is not done by
conscientious health care workers unless they really love conking up
huge sums of the Almighty Buck to the malpractice insurance companies.
That meant someone had to go to court to testify in the hospitals'/
clinics behalf, and trust me, that was hell. I finally had to quit that
job so I wouldn't crack up, but trust me, anyone who got anyone into a
lawsuit was toast at their place of employment.

Pax,
Patricia
