My discography page has no sponsership...no adds, no money being made
for me. At the start I did have a few links to CD Now, but even they
were removed when I revamped the page...because I didn't want to make
money off of the page, and they slowed down the page... I just got
tired of looking for information about U2 tracks/albums/singles/ etc.
and having to go to 30 different places to find it. I decided to share
my project with you...I wanted input from Wire, I wanted input from
fans...
What I didn't expect was an attack for doing something for the U2
community on the web...A quick check around the pages show not an add to
be seen...and although I'm sure some of you know how to hide an add (if
it is possible) there are none hidden...check out the source code...when
you go to my page, you go to my page alone, with the exception of a
tracker I have set up to keep a count on how many visitors there are.
And no I didn't remove any adds...you will find that there have been
several people who have visited that will back me up on this...with the
exception of the CD Now link which has been gone for almost a week
before this accusatory email was sent.
I will be updating my page today...as soon as Xoom is back up. As you
will notice there is a message saying further updates are being
postponed until I move home. That should be within a week...I just
didn't want someone to get the idea I gave up because of his rantings.
I will keep designing the page, working on it, and I will thank you all
now for any constructive criticism you have to give or have given...be
it negative or positive...as long as it was constructive.
As of right now I am continuing the page. The only thing I'm thinking
of giving up is Wire.
And as for the line in the email that really got me going, "I guess the
U2 fans are starting to sell out too now that the band has...", we've
all heard it before...every album, every release, hey wasn't Rattle and
Hum the big sellout ten years ago? The band survive on what they make
from the proceeds from videos and albums, and touring. If they didn't
make money, they probably wouldn't still be doing this 20 years on. And
if making money is selling out, I guess they have, but it happened 20
years ago...not with the release of the greatest hits. I'll let you
know when I make my first dollar from one of my pages...don't hold your
breath waiting though.
This whole list has seen better days. Just two weeks ago it was seeing
better days, as we got to hear so many postive things from people on the
"Best of Wire" thread. The complaining and the fighting is never going
to go away...we all know that if we've read any amount of posts at all,
but lately I'm sick of reading it.
And to the guy who sent me the email (you know who you are) in the first
place...at least look at something before writing such a biting
accusation. This list is supposed to be a place to discuss U2, and my
web site definitely has a large amount of U2 content in it, as well as
countless hours of work. Most of us out there with U2 web pages are
doing it for free...I suppose next up you'll be going after one of the
others on the list who is trying to provide information for free (or
cheap) too!
Anyway I think I'll give up here...no sense ranting anymore...but just
to make someone bitter...heres the address...

when xoom comes back on line, please feel free to check it out, and send
any comments. I will be back...but right now I just need to take a
break from this list.
