Past U2 appearances on MTV music video awards

Hey!
I was out of the U.S. for about 3 years so I've missed all the goings
on of American/World pop culture asides from what dripped into Japan. I
didn't know U2 performed EBTTRT live from their own concert stage with
Dana Carvey playing a long on the drums on the MTV stage- simulcasted
with the MTV awards on their Zoo TV screens. Wish I saw that part of the
show. The guy commenting on that historical bit had only good things to
say. It's too bad MTV snubbed U2 this year...or was it the other way
around? Hmmmm...
