OK, it's the end of the year, which means it's time to check the old Wire
facts 'n' figures spreadsheet (OK, so I have no life).
Total Wires for 1998 = 364
Total Wire postings = 25,396
Avge postings per Wire = 69.8
Largest Wire = 146 postings (30 Jan)
Smallest Wire = 26 postings (27 Dec)
In case you were wondering, the equivalent figures for 1997 were:
Total Wires for 1997 = 345
Total Wire postings = 41,395
Avge postings per Wire = 120.0
Largest Wire = 462 postings (24 Jun)
Smallest Wire = 17 postings (21 Jan)
The falls in total postings and the avge number of postings per Wire is
obviously related to Joel imposing the "only subscribers can post" rule
around April/May 98 - up until then the average number of postings per Wire
for the year hovered around the 100 mark.
Is there anyone else out there equally as boring as me who's been keeping an
eye on the number of subscribers? Unlikely, I know!
