I didn't watch the broadcast of UABRS because I figured it wouldn't be
much difference from what was on the video, but that reminds me that I
wanted to ask: if it was the "War" tour, how come they only did (I
think) 3 songs from the album? Not that it wasn't cool seeing stuff from
"Boy" and "October", I just thought it was sort of odd.
Not in the best of moods the past couple of days which is why I haven't
gotten to write on this until today, been listening to "A Day Without
Me" and "Running to Stand Still" and other suitable songs quite a bit,
but I have a few things rattling (and humming--rim shot, please) around
in my head, so:
Haven't seen anybody mention this: the Dec. 4 Entertainment Weekly
(yeah, the same one w/ the review of the Popmart video) has a review of
the new Tomb Raider 3 game which says "...So what I say may anger your
fans, who I hear include the likes of U2 and Leonardo DiCaprio..." Yay.
I know I'm late on this too and I've discussed it at length w/ Rose
privately but I feel the need to comment on the Bono being beautiful in
any and all senses of the word thing. (If you're one of those people
irritated by this sort of thing...skip over this paragraph, it'll be
real easy...)
'Cause he is :) And yeah, a lot of it is from all the charisma and
intensity and caring-about-what-he's-doing and all that, but a *lot* of
it is just, the fact that he's really, really hot! How can you *miss*
that? The ST vid, or that shot in the "Streets" vid after "trampled in
dust" where he tucks his hair behind his ear and smiles a little, or
every frickin' shot in the "One" video, and the *eyes*, I don't think
even need to be commented on...OK, I'll be rambling any second and I'm
not really adding any insight anyway, but I just wanted to throw that
in. And yes, I am a teenage girl, and I resent being lumped together w/
teenyboppers...I'm not allowed to find the guy attractive, and discuss
it with other people who do also? I think we can go back to the "If it
bothers you, don't read it" rule.
Speaking of Bono (great segue, huh?) Been waking up with him the past
couple of days. Ooh, let me just hold on to *that* thought for a
minute...OK. Seriously, I've been using my CD player rather than my
radio as an alarm and it's great. You can't program it to play a certain
track, you have to use w/ whatever's first, so I've been going w/
"Streets" (I think SBS would be just a little startling!) "Pride" (on
TBO) would work too and even "Zoo Station" if you were in the mood. This
is probably just a pointless slice of my life but I don't know, maybe
there are people out there who can check their stereo instructions and
find out that they can use their CD player as an alarm too. And if you
can, you should, because having Bono wake you up is *much* more pleasant
than some obnoxious morning DJ.
Questions about MP3's again. Do I have Winamp set up wrong or am I just
downloading bad files? Because some of them sound fine but the majority
of them sound like they were recorded underwater or something. Does
*anyone* know what I'm talking about? Also, with that U2 Radio
RealPlayer thing, I'm getting a lot of "URL does not exist" error
messages. Once again, is it on my end or theirs?
*This* close to finishing the Flanagan book and a little disappointed
about it, I've had so much fun reading. I already have "Into the Heart"
and am supposed to be getting a copy of BP Fallon's book, are there any
other "must-reads" I should know about?
Anybody else catch the "Sun City" video on the Pop-Up '80's marathon
today? It was the first full-length U2 involved video I'd ever gotten on
there and I found I spent the whole time Bono was on screaming "GET THE
BUBBLES OFF HIS *FACE* FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!" It was cool anyway though,
'cause I'd never seen it before.
For whoever posted about their "Stay-inspired" fan-fic-ish thing, I read
it, and tried to mail a reply but it got returned. Since this is where I
got the URL in the first place I was hoping I could get to you from
here...sorry for having this on the list though.
And I feel, like I'm drifting drifting drifting from the shore...
