Since every second post is about this I wont respond to anyone in
particular but all you WHINGERS (there is not other way to describe it
sorry) are the target of this post thingy.
Theres been quite a bit of ummm....errr...bitching about the track
listing/versions chosen for the Best Of cd. The fact that you guys even
know the difference between New Years Day (single version) and New Years
Day (Best Of version) kinda means that you're out of the target audience
for this cd. ANY Best Of cd is aimed at people who know a few of the
bands songs but probably dont own an album (maybe just 1) and serves to
introduce them to a bigger body of the bands work without it being
unfamiliar etc etc etc.
Chances are you have EVERY single version of New Years Day U2 ever
released anywhere (and quite possibly every live version aswell), so why
does the fact that U2 put (yet another) version of New Years Day on the
Best Of even bother you? If its too short, awkward or plain wrong go
listen to your 12" coloured/picture/limited release/signed (lol well
maybe not ALL those things) NYD single....or better yet put in the
B-Sides cd and forget about NYD for awhile :).
Ive also been fortunate enough to chat to/read posts from/whatever
people who already HAVE all the B-Sides, and spent quite alot on them
too and as a result are PISSED OFF about the bonus B-Sides disc. My
question to anyone in this category is "Would having all the B-Sides on
one disc make you want to collect the early singles any less?" Since
most of you (who own every thing U2 has ever done on 7", 12" and jukebox
vinyl, cd, ultradisc and cassette) are completists anyway the answer to
that would be no.
QUIT IT ALREADY!
