Alanis Morissette's new album... may have been tipped for the top in
yesterday's massive new release war, but it was U2's The Best of 1980-199
which came out victorious at several Calgary music stores.
"People are buying five at a time of the U2 best-of." ...
the double CD is a limited-edition collection of the irish band's greatest
hits from 1980-90, and includes a bonus CD of their better B-sides.
"...everyone is so excited about U2".
"...the biggest sellers are U2.."

Record Buyers snap up U2, Alanis
New Cds from Alanis and U2 were flying off the racks at record stores across
Canada Tuesday as a who's who if mega-stars unveiled new releases.
U2 led the pack in Calgary...
Morrisette, Dion and Beck were hot sellers but "didn't hold a candle to U2".
"U2 kicked ass. We had line-ups out the door"
(A & B sound) was sold out of U2's CD, The Best of 1980-1990 by 1pm. All
300 coopies left the shelves within three hours.
"The U2 people have been waiting for a greatest- hits collection for ages,
and this is a worlwide limited edition. They've got the kinds of fans who
sort of have to own everything."
(personal note: I bought 2 and was told this HMV sold 450 out 500 in 6
hours)
