Omagh and PSALM 40 in church

  Hello everyone!

     I first have to say that my heart goes out to all those affected by
the bomb in Omagh yesterday. It was a disgusting, appalling attack -
it's another thing that is just beyond my comprehension, how one human
could think it right to kill others. They affect more than the dead and
wounded - I think things of this tragedy affect any human being with a
heart. I pray that all of them receive a sense of peace in their hearts.

     On a kind of side note, in church today I was really surprised
because the responsorial Psalm was Psalm 40. This is in the Catholic
church calendar btw. I was waiting for the day that it would actually be
used! The calendar of different days for teachings etc I believe goes in
a 3 year cycle, so it may be a while until we see this one again :)

I waited patiently for the LORD,
and he stooped towards me and heard my prayers.
He drew me up out of the pit of destruction,
out of the mud of the swamp,
set my feet on a rock, steadied my steps, put a new song in my mouth;
a hymn of praise to our God,
many shall hear, and be awed, and put their trust in the LORD.
