Inverted crosses in Christianity often symbolize St. Peter. He was going to
be put to death by crucifixion because of his beliefs. However, out of
respect, he refused to die the same way Jesus did so he was crucified upside-
down. It is possible that Bono was wearing an inverted cross to represent St.
Peter.
