hmmm, now that you come to mention it, they do tend to build up slowly,
don't they...
i think the reason these songs end up at the beginning of the album is
because they wouldn't work anywhere else. the slow build up sounds much
better at the beginning of the album than it would half-way through.
on a similar line, i'd be interested to hear any theories linking the last
songs of albums, y'know, MLK, 40, Mothers of the disappeared, All i want is
you, Love is blindness, the Wanderer, Wake up dead man...is it just me, or
are these songs somehow linked?
