It's easy for me to worry when U2 even use the words "break" and "up" in
the same sentence, but they've actually been making a point for a long
time now that they don't want to fade away. Even in 1992, Bono said "If
the albums keep getting better, we'll stay together. If they get worse,
I'm out." So this notion of jumping ship when it goes to shit isn't
new. I think they don't say it as a warning but maybe a way of
reinforcing the fact that they're determined to make something great
every time.
