My contest has a winner!

    We have a winner! The correct answer was and is, of course, NIN -
"Pretty Hate Machine". (If you have no idea what this post is about, see
my posts in yesterday's Wire.) I can take some comfort in the fact that
surprisingly many people had this album on their lists too. In my/our
defense, 1989 seemed more like a '90's year than an '80's year, didn't
it? Oh well, let this be a lesson to all of us to be more observant
(especially me)!

magnified the reward to possessing the title "90's-music Stud of the
Month" (starting officially on Nov. 1st, but unofficially retroactive to
