ATTN: All Dublin Wirelings

I need your help. My friends and I are trying to plan a trip to Dublin.
Alas, we are poor college students so we are planning to stay in youth
hostels. What I am asking is if you know of any good hostels that
aren't far from Temple Bar, etc.

Oh, and just how cold is Ireland in December/January?
