TidBits:
The "Best Of" has not dropped out of
the top 3 (!) in Australia and top 10
in the U.K. and Canada since its debut.
Neither version of "The Sweetest Thing" has dropped
out of the top 15 in Canada since their debut.
Considering that "The Sweetest Thing" has spent
16 weeks in the U.S. Modern Rock charts (5 of
which were in the top 10) and has bounced
around in the 60's in the U.S. Hot 100 (both
chart performances based solely on radio air
play), it appears Island made a mistake not releasing
this song in CD format in the U.S. Considering
the song was a top 10 hit in Canada, Ireland,
the U.K. and Australia (where it was released
in CD format), "The Sweetest Thing"
probably would have easily been a top 40
hit in the U.S. (i.e., Island could have made
some extra $$).
Ciao,
John
