OK, what day *isn't* a U2 day for me? Everyday is, duh. But yesterday
and last night were SO INCREDIBLELY U2 BITCHIN', I just have to vent
about it! (Plus, I had never had a U2 *New Year's* before, so this was
a first....)

SO- I just talked to this girl Kelly (a.k.a. KJ/Suicide Blonde) and she
told me that yesterday on New Year's Eve around 3 pm, on the radio
station Y-107, she heard the DJ play Everlasting Love and he said it was
for "Nikki in Ventura- she wanted to hear some U2 from '89." THAT WAS
MEEEEEE! :) Ha haaaaa! That afternoon, they were only playin' hits
from '89, so I named off a few: Everlasting Love, All I Want Is You,
Dancing Barefoot, etc. So, they actually came through! FINALLY! And
my U2 internet friend in San Diego heard it! WOO HOOOO! (Bummer *I*
wasn't there to hear it though. I was drivin' in my car, listening to
my Pop CD. Oh well!)

THEN, last night, I was gettin' ready to leave for a big New Year's
thingy. My friend got there to pick me up, but I was so not ready! I
was hurryin', puttin' my go-go boots on, packing up my mirrorball, and
frantically running around the house to find all my CDs. Then *guess*
what came on the radio. ANGEL OF HARLEM! "OooooohmiGOSH! Meredith!" I
told her. "It's a sign!!!" Sign of what--- I dunno. I just know that
I've been requesting that song all holiday and they haven't been playing
it, but then it came on just as I was stressin' out, in a big ol' rush.
WOW! :) It was a sign that it was gonna be a goooood night and
everything was just gonna be groovy, baby.

(Aaahh, I'm typing and I can't shut up!)

THEN, we got to my friend Beth's party. Everyone was just sitting on
the couch, watching The Naked Gun. Booooooring. So we put up my
mirrorball, turned off the lights and everyone came ALIVE! I even had
my own bottle of champagne. ;) I wanted so badly to do that Bono thing
and shake it up and let it fly, but.....I didn't wanna waste it.
Anyhow, last night was the BEST New Year's I've had so far!!!!!! There
was so much U2 music bein' played, it was just amazing. Everyone was
gettin' their boogy on to Discotheque and Lemon and Do You Feel Loved
and MORE! And when midnight hit--- aw man, that was UNREAL! We had the
radio station Y-107 on. I was in the kitchen when everyone was countin'
down with the DJ- "...5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Happy New Yearrrrr!" Then, I just
went *insane*. Oh man, all I had to hear was the very first note of
"New Year's Day," and I was OUTTA that kitchen and IN that living room
with my friends and my mirrorball, goin' "AAAAAAHHHOOOOOHMIGOD, I LOVE
THIS SOOOOOOONG! Yes! YES! YEEEEES!" The song *transformed* me from
this exhausted girl whose buzz was wearin' off 'til I was feelin' ready
for bed, to this CRAZY MANIAC, totally energized again! Singin' at the
top of my lungs, pictures were flyin', kisses were flyin'! It was
crazy, all 'cause of THAT SONG! And seein' everyone so stoked to hear
that U2 song was just the *best*. Everyone was goin' nuts. I was just
the happiest tipsy gal in the world.

OK, I am way too hyperactive right now (and I don't get it- I haven't
slept in ages). But I didn't have enough to be hungover and I'm just
bouncin' off the walls, and I know I can get pretty damn annoying, so
I'll go now. I'm sorry. I'll go, like, lay down or something. Nah, I
have to go get ready for my mom's birthday dinner. But I just had to
let this EXPLOSION out of me and tell about the awesome amount of U2 I
had in my New Year's. And I'm sure I wasn't the *only* one... ;)

Well.....bye y'all. Happy New Year's Daaaaay!

Nikki :)
