When we first came up with the idea to offer the Santa Bono greeting
card this holiday season, we weren't too certain what the public
response would be. That was back in November.
Looking back over the recent weeks, we were pleasantly surprised by the
tremendous positive feedback which the project generated. We did not
hear any complaints from anyone, publically (Wire) or privately, aside
from the standard Holiday-rush postal delays and our temporary email
absence when we were out of town (credit DM!). We did our best to
handle everybody's order promptly, and approximately 40% of the orders
were mailed out prior to us receiving any payment. There are currently
a few people who still need to send in their mail <hint hint!> :).
Without getting into the production details, we'll say that a total of
59 people successfully placed and received their orders. We would like
once again to publicly thank each and every one of you for your
interest, patience, and trust with the offer! We can happily say that
several hundred U2 fans around the world received the card this year
from their friends who ordered with them in mind. The greeting cards
have found their way to places around the world such as Argentina,
Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, and the Philippines, not to mention
28+ U.S. states.
Now that Christmas has passed, the email frenzy has died down, and we
are finally breathing a sigh of relief ;). But we will miss the
memories of this fun project (midnight runs to the 24-hour airport post
office), as well as the constant communication with so many different
people! It would be inappropriate at this time to even consider plans
to release a card next year for the 1999 holiday season...but it may
happen ;).
If you totally missed out this time around, we still have about 20 cards
available as post-seasonal souvenirs, and they make a great addition
into anybody's collection - write us if you would still like to get one
for yourself.
Also, if YOU are one of the lucky people who received a card from a
friend, we would *love* to hear your comments, either privately or
publicly :).
Anyhow, it is our time to return to lurk-mode for a while. No more
posts cluttering up space...at least for a month or two, until our next
project surfaces - we have two possible future releases ;)! Thanks
