"I don't see you when (s)he walks in the room"

Wirelings (of the married or committed, female type specifically)
I can't remember whose post right after the first airing of Legends
mentioned this, but I can certainly sympathize with the woman who commented
how hard it is to pay attention to one's significant other when Bono (or
name "your favorite distraction" here) is on tv. My eyes automatically jump
to the tv screen when my husband is surfing his way though the channels and
I hear a U2 song, interview or mention. And of course, if I were alone, I
would stop and watch whatever it is, but my husband won't. . . And when I
was trying to watch the Legends that Friday night, I constantly felt a tug
of war between my interest in the program and my husband trying to distract
me. . . !
It's so much like 'I don't see you when she walks in the room' that
it's scary. . . :-)
How do my other Wire-sisters deal with this? It drives me nuts - I
mean, I love my husband dearly, we've been together for 15 years and he's
my best friend, but he is *not* U2-obsessive like I am. In fact, he's
pretty jealous and has often had a catty comment to make, thinking it will
needle me (which of course it does. . . ) I've taken to hiding my videos;
my bootleg tapes live in my car, I have my Propaganda delivered to my work
address. . . ! Oh my, it feels like I'm having an affair or something
(hmmm, *that's* a visual to work on later . . . LOL)
any others care to chat or to offer suggestions, email me privately.
This is probably another one of those topics that not all of Wire is
interested in. . .
