the situation's too serious for "subjecs"

Dear Bono:
The strangest, bizarrest thing was trying to listen to you singing
"Unchained Melody" in my headphones while my parents watched the latest
from Iraq and the renewed gulf crisis on TV...
Planes, bombs, planes dropping bombs, bombs that unfold in myriad
smaller bombs, threats of unimaginable destruction from both sides, and
your dear, familiar voice, sounding like an old friend in my ears,
singing about infinite love...
The world has definitely gone mad. And if not it, then probably I have,
or will soon...
How can such beauty and such monstrosity coexist like this? How come
there are still people in this world who think they have anything to
gain from making wars?
BONO! (Where are my heroes when I need them most?) You can see the
Israelis are really preoccupied when they start looking up to the
passing jet planes...
Bono please, speak with the voice I don't have, for no one will listen
to me; enpower my thoughts, for I'm feeling powerless right now, while
the leaders of the world put my life in jeopardy for their own political
gain...
Shout for me, and denounce to the world the madness of it all. The USA
attacked Iraq last night!
My friend(s): Write like no one will read, SING, at the top of your
voice and from the bottom of your heart, like no one is listening, and
dream, dream like there's no waking up...
All my love,
Lucilla.
P.S. And yes, I believe Bono and Mr Yeats are one and the same. Can't
you Wire people recognize the style of our most admired songwriter?
We've been blessed by his presence among us, if only to give us a much
needed slap on the face.
