Yah, and about every other live version of Desire they ever did. I was
listening to Dublin Zoo TV recently, and that's clearly what he says.
He kinda drags it out so you know just what he's thinking. I guess Bono
just gets more obvious when facing down a few thousand people...

Well, I don't have the energy to do a full interpretation right now
myself, but I did want to say I always found the video really
interesting. I always thought of Love is Blindness as a song about 2
people until I saw the video, which suggests it's a song about blind
devotion to a country or cause (as in the case of certain groups in No.
Ireland) to the point where the senseless violence and killing is wiped
out by the focus of the devoted people. And then that really makes a
lot of sense with the lyrics, especially parts like, "squeeze the
handle, blow out the candle," and "a little death without mourning, no
call and no warning, baby a dangerous idea that almost makes sense."
And "In a parked car, in a crowded street, you see your love made
complete" i.e. the terrorist bombings. And "Love is drowning in a deep
well, all the secrets and no one to tell" is like how people involved in
terrorist stuff have to keep it secret, even from their families, and
"take the money, honey, love is blindness" i.e. do what you have to do
and forget about the consequences. I could go on but I won't. Anyway,
this is just like many other U2 songs in that you can get more than one
good interpretation out of it. Part of what makes it so brilliant.

I saw the video and noticed the same thing! Only I didn't wonder if it
was the same discoball, I just thought of what a copycat she was being.
At least she didn't try to dress up like a Village Person, LOL.
