I'm a little bored right now and well i decided i wanna tellyou about my
experience at PopMart in 1997.
This(sad to say) was my frist ever U2 concet and me and my friends
deicded that we were gonna go all out. So in our U2 gear, we got picked
up at like 7 AM by my best friend warren and the dude Decoreted his CAR!
He had the popmart pics of the band splatted all over it and we each had
a real lemon that we were carrying around all day..
We arrived at the stadium at about 8 Am and the ffive of us in teh car
got all excited as we saw the gleaming arc poking out from teh stadium.
We ran outta our car and snap a whole role of film on the stage right
there..!
I think the best part of getting there that early was being able to both
mingle with other crazy u2 fans and see them ppl working on the stage
AND hearing hte sound check. I met so many ppl from wire and propangda
but at the time was netierh a member of both so i was a little bit shy
of saying much..:) I did get asked by a radio station to take part in a
U2 triva and lets just say i was beating guys twice my age.. I hadda
tell them a story about what i did to get to the show today ( i just
talked about my obssesion, how i have a dog named Vox and one called
mofo so when i call him in i can sound just like bono" MooooooFO!")
Anyway the best was yet to come at about 3 PM in the after noon. we
were sitting around the entrance to the arean and low and behold! the
band drove in for the sound check! I was i SWEAr about a foot fromteh
edge and he smile and gave me the thumbs up. (i snapped a pic too) got
the whole band (why they were all in dif cars i dunno..:P)
The show it's slef was spectaular! It was the first stop of the popmart
tour in Canada AND the first time U2 has ever played winnipeg. The crow
was great, the sound was great. Bono even made a great spech about the
devisating flood that crashed threw our city not that long before the
show. I was in tears by the time the banded played "One"
I think of that day with found memories. Maybe some of the fondest. i
got to spend time with my best friends and share sumthing with them that
we all understand in a deep level...
