I would love to hear him sing that song, too.
Now, please don't snicker too loud, but a couple of weeks ago
I bought a Christmas cd by--gulp--Donny Osmond. I wasn't sure
if it would be any good, so I waited until it was on sale, and used
and 'after Thanksgiving sale' coupon, and got it for not much.
Anyway, I was pretty impressed. Especially with his version of
O Holy Night, and I thought how much I would love to hear Bono
do the same version. The song has an extra verse, of sorts, that
reminds me so much of the extra part Bono adds to live performances
of 'One', in that it is not the same melody as the rest of the song, and
it is really "soaring". It goes somehing like "He taught us to love one
another. Chains will break for the slaves our brothers. Hymns of joy in
chorus raised All that's within us lifts up his name." It is really beautiful,
and I've been playing it ever since, imagining that it was Bono singing.
Oh, well, enough confession for one day!
