Raygun interview of REM mentions Bono...

Somebody a few weeks back said that they thought they heard U2 influence in
the REM song "Walk Unafraid." Check out the Raygun magazine with the REM
interview. Michael Stipe talks about who helped him with the writing of
various songs, and after listing everybody he says something like, "Oh, and
you gotta put Bono in that list. Bono really helped with the writing of
the second verse of 'Walk Unafraid.' I was stuck making these declarative
statements, and I didn't want to say it like that, so when I asked him
about it he said, 'Turn it around. Make it a question. I never would've
thought of that..."
Sorry if this is old news, and sorry I can't give an exact quote. It was
cool thinking that someone on the list guessed it so perfectly.
