Don't save Bono...save yourselves!!

Wire, wire, oh poor Wire,
I said it before and I'll say it again...this whole drugs thing is way
out of hand. And now the posts start saying "Let's all help Bono" and other
posts claiming Bono's lyrics support the drug addiction theory. First off,
let me applaud Robbie's post from yesterday...all of you AA group leader
wanna-bes need to leave well enough alone. Like Bono isn't surrounded by
people who care enough about him to help him out IF he had a problem...they
helped Adam, right?
But the real thing that pisses me off are these posts that are analyzing
certain U2 songs and saying "Ok, these lyrics prove this, these lyrics prove
that"...unless you people were inside Bono's head when he wrote the lyrics,
you have no idea what the hell he meant, so don't try to be Mr. or Mrs.
Psychoanalyst. The majority of Bono's lyrics are beautiful, well-thought
out metaphors, you people (you know who you are) try to turn them into some
literal tapestry of what's going on in Bono's head. You obviously aren't
poets, you don't know how to express something in other than the literal
sense, and when you see lyrics that literally might mean one thing ("Sleep
comes like a drug" for instance) you think you have Bono all figured out. I
think you all slept in your English class the day they taught poetry. I
won't go further on this one, I think Kim took care of it yesterday. Good
post by the way, hit the nail on the head there.
So my challenge to Wire is this: We need a new thread that will get
people's attention and get them to stop constantly discussing this drug
thing...or Wire is going to become part of a 12 step program. Any
suggestions greatly appreciated.
