>Now Mariah Carey and Garth Brooks are inferior artists?
Yes. They sure are. Garth Brooks is a washed up sellout who screams
that he's gonna retire every time he doesn't sell as many records as he
wants. Then all the people who weren't gonna buy the album go out and
buy it. Pretty bad if you ask me. Mariah Carey has no style of her own
whatever will sell records is what she records.

Yes. I've listened to a lot of both Mariah Carey and Garth Brooks, so I
know what I;m talking about. :>

See above. :>

I admire that. :) Good marketing ploy, too. :>

Well, I hear alot of people post good things about bands we should check
out all the time. :>

Last time I checked, this was <[email protected]>. ;)

Well, that's the way it is. A person has to take responsibility for
what they do with the gun. The gun does nothing that the person doesn't
make it do. It may be a gun's nature to kill, but it can't do it unless
someone pulls the trigger. :)

Well, I think Marshall Macluhen's full of it. See above. :>

Well, I believe that Bono said he was writing about drug addiction, and
I think everyone (remember Bono was up there with Jesus at the time)
naturally assumed it couldn't be from personal experience, but who
knows? This isn't an issue for me because if it came from a personal
battle with drugs, it was genuine, and he's not a hypocrite. The press
just got it wrong. I remember reading somewhere that he admitted an
addiction battle that occured around 86-87...so maybe the press
shouldn't have caricatured them. :)

before.
Finally something to discuss! My liner notes have the right lyrics.
Strange?
Also a note to Christy Black...loved the post and hope those of us who
love to discuss the deeper issues of the music can have more of a
presence on the list. I invite you and Robert and Rose(and anyone else
who's prone to these sort of things...I tend to do the Bono rambling
thing) to mail me any time you want to discuss U2 or just the sate of
the world. Just because I may strongly disagree doesn't mean we have to
flame, although I warn you I'm from a great debate squad <eg>.
PS--Rose, I just read your post...right on...loved it...write sometime
if you feel up to it :)
And this, children, concludes this rant session. *LOL*
