There have been so many times in my life where'd I'd be just going about
my day and a U2 song would be on, then all of a sudden, I'd just stop
and have to stand back and go "......whoa...." It was like the music
fit *so* perfectly. Like my life was a movie, and this awesome music
automatically came in at the perfect moment. Do y'all ever have times
like these? Like the other day, I was skippin' class to go for a drive
up the coast and go shoppin'. I was so excited! As I accelerated on
the on-ramp of the freeway, gettin' faster and faster, Bono's voice was
singin', "Here she comes....TAKE ME HIGHER! TAKE ME HIGHER!" It all
just seemed to...go. It went so well, the way I was feelin' and going
faster on the freeway and the song playin' at that moment. Trippy. And
the other night, when somethin' really great happened with this one guy-
we said our goodnights, and I got in my car to drive home and was *very*
stoked. *What* just happened to be on at that moment??? "Sweetest
Thing!" "Ain't love the sweetest thing." I thought that went extremely
well with the situation!
And there are also times when the music isn't actually playin', but I
can still hear it in my head. Like, I'll never forget when I was still
in high school last year. Almost everyday, when I'd be headed from 1st
period to 2nd, I'd have "Bad" in my head. I'd be truckin' down the
hall, determined, feeling ready to take on the day, and I'd be hearing,
"I'm wiiiiiide awaaaaaaake! I'm wiiiiiide awaaaaaaaaaaaaake! I'm not
sleeping." And I remember those days, thinkin', "Wow, wouldn't that be
great if we had real soundtracks in our lives? Like in movies, we'd
just be livin' life, and then at certain moments, this music would
just...fade in. Who knows where the hell it'd be comin' from. Maybe
from the sky or somethin'. I dunno. I don't care, actually, how the
music would be there. I just think that'd be cool! Our own personal
soundtracks."
Like, at a really sad moment in your life, "Love is Blindness" would
come on. And at a super exciting point, "I Will Follow" or "Where the
Streets Have No Name" would pop on! How awesome! And at a really
touching moment or romantic moment, "One" or "With or Without You" would
just fade in. How cool would that be?! *VERY*, I say. :)
