Actually ST isn't that much of a joyous song especially when Bono says
"I'm losing you" which is actually done on a D-minor, the saddest
chord of all. But the guitar melodies and the new way Bono sings it
along with the Edge's backing vocals give it the joyous feel. The
first version was darker and it matched the lyrics of the song more
for me. But maybe U2 are just happier now than before.

Please don't underestimate U2. They are not going to come out with an
album full of ST-like songs. They always do something different.
Upon hearing the U2 would make a wild rock'n'roll album, I thought
that it would all sound like HMTMKMKM (since that was to most recent
U2 song out then), but I was wrong. U2 always stretch music to new
limits and let's just wait and see how far they can bring the beast
this time.

Bye for now,

Jovi
