Neat thread:)

Hmm...although I consider myself to have only really been a "fan" for a year
and half or so, I've always liked and respected this group. Some of my
neatest childhood memories have to do with weekend afternoons of listening to
War and other really cool "college rock" albums with my parents. I also
remember getting the tape out and playing it on my own quite a bit..at that
young an age I think I remember thinking it was cool to like a band with a
song called Sunday Bloody Sunday! I know i was a strange child;p.
Time passed and as finances in our family got tighter, my mom just couldn't
afford to indulge her music fancies anymore. I can remember me and my sister
trying to pool together our birthday present money and such to get our mom
joshua tree, but we never succeeded and the last u2 album that was bought in
our family was the unforgettable fire. My parents kind of stopped buying
music and since I was living by that time in a small town with virtually no
rock n' roll access...my interest in u2 and rock in general waned as well. It
wasn't until we got MTV in 95 that both of us got interested in rock again.
I remember seeing the batman video around that time and thinking how cool a
vid and song it was...and I also remember being very impressed and fascinated
with the Passengers miss Sarajevo video...although I thought that it was that
bono guy guesting on a Pavorotti project! Anyway when we got MTV, I got
interested in rock n' roll and into the smashing pumpkins which led me into
checking out u2 again....which got my father interested in u2 again and we saw
the Dallas show together as a present for my hs graduation. Now even my mom
who didn't like teh popmart/zoo tv u2 era is even admitting she likes the
sweetest thing video and my dad is stealing my cd's! Funny how things go in
circles like that.

in the name of hope, love peace and u2
Megan
