First of all..I don't consider Modsavage some kind of saint...but I do enjoy
his "contests" on wire. Why? because it helps lighten up things a little
bit. Also, regardless of his motivations, it does set a cool example and
provide an alternative to the "I;ve got such and such cdr on sale for only 20
dollars" I guess everyone just need SOMETHING to gripe about, whethers its
blind admiration of Modsavage, or gh not having celebration, or the band
"selling out" or not wanting them to stop arena touring.....well now I'm
griping about griping!
Let me just say this....I haven't approved of every move u2 has made, but in
all i really like being a fan. When one decides to put their trust and
positive opinion on a group of human beings..one learns to take the good with
the bad, and with u2 and this mailing list the good far outweighs the bad.. No
they aren't perfect, no this list isn't perfect either...but I still think
both are quite special. This band has shown me alot about myself and my
world...gave me music to cry to, pray with and jump for joy with. The
gestures this group has made have encouraged me to do something too...and at
times they've made me very proud to be a fan. In regards to wire...I have
learned alot about other cultures and viewpoints through this list. I have
also met many people through it that have helped me and I have come to think
of it of an awesome community. Everytime I get discouraged by a flame war or
such, I usually have my faith renewed by an awesome post allowing me to relive
a concert experience or a new way of seeing a song. I also will never forget
the sheer display of concern and heart when personal tragedies strike wire
members and other such events just reinforce my opinion that there is indeed a
special bond with us crazy u2 fans!
I'm sorry for rambling but I just wanted to have my say on this...
PS...the "give it away" idea is a cool one, count me in:)
in the name of love and U2
