Also, could someone (Ciao John?) find definite info on whether the Best
Of album was charted in copies or units? I read yohan's post and have
wondered about this.
Finally, I just wanted to say I think U2 are going to stick to small
venues on the next tour, and not because they couldn't fill stadiums in
the US. What they're saying makes perfect sense to me.
1. They were completely happy to play to unfull stadiums here in the
States because the numbers they were playing to were, most of the time,
still more than would fit into an arena. I don't remember them even
once seeming dragged down by the lower turnout at some shows, no matter
what the media thought.
2. They're not even talking about just doing it in the US because Larry
was talking about playing at a smaller venue in Ireland.
3. I think they believe they'd be ripping fans off if they didn't put on
a huge "spectacle" show in stadiums. But I really get the impression
that's not the kind of show they want to do anymore for the sake of
saving money and energy. So, very logically, if they're not going to
put on a huge production, they're not going to play stadiums. Plain and
simple. :-)
But only time will tell...
