Rockline radio special *or* An evening at a wake

Well I started listening to the radio special last night...the 'intro' was the
opening part of 'Where The Streets Have No Name' and then I don't even recall
there being even a modest introduction. The guy giving the eulogy, I mean the
host, opens up with 'Did you guys ever have nicknames growing up?' Bono (I
presume) said, 'John, Paul, George, and Ringo'....ha ha ha ha ha (not really).

They briefly discussed the insert (the god-awful hair and clothing) and the
tracks and the debate as to which ones were on the CD and not on the CD. I
believe one of them made the distinction between 'average' fans and 'above-
average' fans and said that the 'aa'-fans were paying for the b-sides and the
'a'-fans were paying for the regular tracks.

The next question (again from the host) dealt with the order of the
tracklisting and the thought (if any) that went into how they were slapped on
the CD. One of the band members said they didn't want to throw them onto the
CD chronologically because that would have been too easy, and instead they
listed them on the CD as if they were playing them live (which is bound to be
another painfully lengthy WIRE-thread). I'm guessing it was either the
decision of the oujia board, a hearty game of one-potato two-potato three-
potato four, or they used a monkey to draw songs out of a hat.

Then they started playing each song off the 'A'-disc, which the did by album,
starting with 'I Will Follow'...it was at this point where I fell asleep.

I woke up at one point to hear a question posed from one of the callers, but
it was too lame for my brain to comprehend and remember now as i'm typing.
Then they went to 'Angel of Harlem', so i'm guessing I was asleep for about an
hour and a half. I don't remember finishing the song, so I guess I fell
asleep again.

So, the moral of the story is...don't get your hopes up and only stay awake to
tape it if you're a completist.
