By and large a quiet weekend for the lads. Bono and Ali were at a book
launch for our former president Mary Robinson on friday. The rest of the
lads had a quiet weekend by all accounts, although Edge is doing most of
the PR for the new album, radio interviews , Q Magazine etc.
Ive spoken to a few contacts in HMV and VIRGIN, apparently, the GH album is
even exceeding their expectations..."4 out of every 5 customers are buying
it".....but the thing they are most surprised with is the sales of the
Mexico video, these too are flying off the shelves. Both shops have huge
marketing ploys for the album with the Grafton St. branch of HMV using one
whole wall with the GH and the back catologue as well as the Mexico
video........they are also running a competition where you can win one of
the "helmuts" that Peter Rowan wears on the cover.......charming eh???
Virtually every shop you go into here in Dublin is playing the album, they
have also gone straight in at Number 1 in UK............Id love to know the
sales in USA, anyone please???
