First off, I've seen some discussion of the Popmart/Mexico City concert
video. Is this out in stores yet? I've seen it listed at CDNOW and Tower
Records' web site with a release date of 11/3, but I have been to five
stores and have yet to find it anywhere. Any info would be appreciated.
Now as for the GH controversey. I haven't seen all the posts or been privy
to all of the info out there, but I'm guessing (and mind you this is a
guess) that what caused the Limited Edition version (and my sticker does say
limited) to be available a bit longer is that Island/Polygram pressed a
certain number of copies and figured that the orders would poor in from
retailers once the original announcement was made. But the stores didn't
bite because of the percieved "poor" sales of the last two U2 albums. But
when the CD hit the shelfs, they were picked up more quickly than the
retailers anticipated. So what occurs is the stores want more copies, and
the record label still has a few of these things laying around in their
inventory. So they extend the availability.
of course, as I said, I haven't seen all the posts on this subject, nor read
any news items, press releases, etc. on the subject that might be out
there. So this is all speculation.
