Well, I was sooooooooo pleased with the second cd on this set.
Like a few 'older' fans I was busy in the 1980's spending money
on frivolous items like tuition and food for my young kids, and
never once considered buying a single by U2, or any one else.
So all but 4 of the songs were new to me. And it's great having
the other cd---I can listen to all that great music without flipping
around through a slew of discs.
So, despite earlier reports that stores would only be allowed to order
this set once, I am very, extremely happy that it is being made
available to more people. As I was standing in the humungo-mega-
warehouse store looking at their little box of cds, I thought it was too
bad that it was only available for a while, because many people find
out about new records by word of mouth, and a lot of folks would be
disappointed when they showed up at the stores to find only the
single-disc version.
And isn't that what it's all about: spreading the good music to all who
want to hear it. I'd get more satisfaction from a good record if I can
know that other people are able to get the same thrill, than I would in
knowing that I own some rare, elitist piece of plastic. ;-)
So let's lift our glasses to those wonderful people at Polygram who are
making these songs available once again to the masses, while at the
same time making U2 the loads of money they most certainly deserve!
Hip-hip-hooray!
:o)
p.s. I still hope U2 makes so much money they shit $1000 bills for the
rest of their lives. They have to put up with so much crap from fans.
