First I want to start off by saying thanks to everyone who is sending
in great sales reports from around the globe. It's exciting!! And I
love it when all of us on WIRE are getting along so well ;)
But here is my story. I went to Sam Goody to pick up the album. I
read the earlier post about a store in NJ only having twenty copies
sent to them, so I was wondering what the story would be here.
I walked in and saw a HUGE display for the most over-rated
lyricist/performer of our time -- Alanis Morissette. I looked high
and low for the GH, but found nothing.
I went to the front counter and asked where it was. "Oh it's all sold
out" she said (A leap of joy in my heart). So just for kicks I asked
them how many they had sold. Hold on to your seats folks -- A grand
total of FOUR!!! I started laughing, but inside my skin was crawling.
The Alanis rack of about 100 cd's was half empty!!
On the brighter side of things, I went to Best Buy and found a whole
bunch of GH's for only 18.99 and while I was there about four other
people grabbed it too. The only problem being they already had the
Alanis CD in their hands.
So it looks like while sales are rocketing everywhere else, U2 will be
relegated to second or third or fourth place come next weeks charts.
Any more positive reports from US buyers???
nian
