The myth of who or what U2 are as a people or a thing should be based
solely on you. If you want U2 to be the Joshua Tree serious rock full
of stealth band then make them so, if you want your opinion of them to
be crushed making them out to be a drug ridden piece of sold-out
trash...then do so. The U2 "Myth" is created by their character, the
record labels' marketing team, and worst of all, general opinions of
dults like myself and other fans. But what U2 means to you, who they
are, how they affect you should be left solely to you. Not reality, not
three chords and the truth, not tabloid news. Let them be who you want
them to be. The "real" U2 has never been the U2 we've made them out to
be in any case or situation. We helped create the myth, and
unfortunatley we'll probably help tear them down too. But don't let
news, gossip or even reality make decisions for you if it's going to
take away from what pumps you up, gives you hope or makes you feel good.
