So there I was, waiting for my multivariable Calc class to start when I
picked up a copy of our campus newspaper (The Daily Collegian) and decided
to read through it when low and behold I see that there is an article about
U2 in the paper today, just describing their history and the essential
albums to buy. So I'm sitting there reading this, when someone walks up
behind me and says "Hey, are you reading the article on U2?" So I got into
a brief conversation with this person on U2 and how big of a fan I am and
stuff:-) So I tell her that I saw Popmart in Philly, and she says that she
has never seen them in concert, but then says that they tried to play here
at Penn State University's Beaver Stadium with Zoo TV back in 1992. But
Joe Paterno protested against it because he didn't want to get the grass on
the football field messed up (in case you haven't seen the field in Beaver
Statdium, it is BEAUTIFUL), and because of that U2 pulled out of the
concert and vowed to never try and play here again. I have always thought
it would be cool to see U2 in Beaver Stadium. It is probably by far the
largest outdoor stadium in PA between Philly and Pittsburgh. Now, I have
never heard of this rumour, and frankly I find it hard to believe. But,
the outdoor leg of Zoo TV did go through America right in the middle of the
college football season, so maybe it it true. What I want to know is, has
ANYONE else heard this rumour? Thank you!:-)
