Of course it is.
U2 and Bono are a very politically outspoken band and they
have often expressed their views on this. They expect their
fans to think about and consider it, too.
This is the same thing that get's said whenever religion
comes up on the list, too. That's worth discussing because
U2 is a very religion influenced band also.
U2 has taked a clear stand about Pinochet so he's fair game
on the list. U2 is closely involved with The Mothers of the
Disappeared. You are limiting discussion to their music only.
U2 are more than their music. There are a lot of things going
on around U2. For example, the report that Salaman Rushdi (sp?)
lived on Bono's estate part of the time he was in hiding from
the Moslem extremist assassins. Right now they are working at
getting the press to back off on that report as much as possible
because this might put Bono and his family at risk of attack by
the Moslem extremists. I can't imagine not mentioning that.
There is a lot to discuss about U2 besides the music if you
want to take the effort to think about it.
