In response to the 5 choices that Matt McGee listed that shaped U2's
career, I really feel that the release of Joshua Tree set it all off.
It just seemed like everything went into a mad frenzy during that time
period. I remember going down to their hotel and the police were there
with barracades and tons of people were outside. Even at the airport
you could not get near them because of the crowd. What an amazing time
for them. However, I must say that The Joshua Tree opened up a new door
for them into the United States, in regards to shaping their career. In
Ireland, or England, or the rest of Europe, it was something else.
Maybe it is just a combo of everything. I'm curious to know how Bono
and the rest feel.
