Is there something wrong with releasing varying versions of the best
tracks, do you have something against Red Hill Mining Town, isn't the
second last take good enough for you. Why do people buy multiple
bootlegs from the same tour, each performance is unique, does the best
live version of a song get released officially, do people only settle
for one live version of any given track. That point is analogous to the
unreleased material from the vaults.
Releasing previously unreleased tracks by other artists has been met
with excellent sales and something like the JT sessions would appeal to
more than just the 'diehard'. I mentioned JT since it has the most
widespread appeal and is the most viable from a commerical and artisitic
standpoint. Given Pop's lukewarm response, your statement
about'diehards' would be more appropriate.
Bottom line, a best of/GH release doesn't cut it, would you rather have
the best of or a few more versions of the better JT tracks and b-sides.
