I think alot of you people are misunderstanding the meaning
of the "Fuck the Past, Kiss the Future" quote, along with
the "Glorify the past, the future dries up" snipit. The new music
U2 have given us over the past 7 years back up both these
statements, not allowing nostilga and sentiment to guide your
musical curiosity. They have never created new music to pasify
fans who long for the "old days". Think about it, AB came out w/
Zoo TV, tons of old fans who wanted JT 2 lost interest. Zooropa
was next, and even more fans took off. Their next big studio LP,
Pop, drove fans who really only liked one U2 record(JT) further
away. Rereleasing their old tunes was surprising
to me as well, but it's just that, old tunes that were created a long
time ago. Their creation of new music has always been about
moving forward. This record is perfect, my broke sis in college likes U2 but
only
has AB & Pop, so her B-day gift will be this CD. Just about every artist
has a GH or B-sides album, or will some day. Did you really think
U2 were any different?
-Lighten up, it's only RnR.
