Yes, I saw it too, on M6 (a French cable channel). No sign of it on MTV
Europe yet, as far as I know at least.
Being the first time I hear the song, I find it a sweet little thingy. I
think that the boys wanted to prove they could beat the pop world at their
own game. Hence the Boyzone part (it's like Bono is opening for them or
'basking in their glory'! lol! Anyway, Boyzone are not that bad - lately
they've made decent songs and videos - another street completely than the
Backstreet Boys!)
The point I wanted to make really is that Kevin Godley, the director, also
made 'Numb'. See the similarities? Same position of the main character, same
medley of characters. But, of course, whereas 'Numb' is... with an edge (pun
intended!), 'Sweetest Thing' has Bono written all over it. I wish he would
make up his mind and play a 'real' part in a movie! Uncle Oscar is waiting
for him! Till then, I think every gesture he makes in the clip has a
meaning... I'll tape it and then dissect it.
Isn't the chef Norman, his brother, or somebody from 'Tosca'? The surprise
(or aversion rather!) is part of the plot. The finale is, indeed, absolutely
great.
And as for Ali, Bono is the luckiest man! And it's a woman that says it!
Take care all of you!
