A few random points.....

- Has everyone recieved their latest edition of Propaganda?

- I haven't seen mine yet....does anybody have Julia Proud's (at Prop)
e-mail address as I have lost it.

- Just a thought - wouldn't it be great if the buried Neil Jordan video
for 'Red Hill Mining Town' was released as a part of the 'Best of...'
80's U2 resurgence - It was after all due to be a single back in '87.

- I have a sealed copy of the 'God Part II' promo cd containing the R&H
-era remixes. Does anybody know if this is a particularly rare item?

- Modsavages question about Larry's sister's name reminded me of a story
I haven't shared with Wire. Back in '87 when I was a wee 13 year old, I
meet a guy called Dave Glass who was a helper with a charity which taked
sick children on holiday each year. I went on such a trip as my sister
had severe asthma at the time. Sitting next to Dave on the flight, U2
came up in conversation. The Joshua Tree had just been released, and at
that time, my older brother was the huge U2 fan in my house. Dave told
me that his and Larry's family were friends, paticularly when he was a
boy, and that he had many holidays at the Mullens. After the holiday,
Dave said that he would try to get hold of some autographs of U2 for me.
I didn't really expect that he would be able to, but later that year he
popped round to my house with the goods. He had written to Larry's Dad,
and mentioned me and my Bro being big U2 fans. Larry's Dad wrote back a
long letter to Dave, amongst other things saying how he missed not
seeing Larry so much as he is so busy touring etc., and that it only
seemed like yesterday that they were playing in his kitchen.

Larry's Dad also got hold of some signed pics (Bono & Larry in the
desert and Larry on his own) I really treasure these as I can imagine
him giving Larry a call and telling him about me and could he get some
autographed stuff and bring them around!

Larry Mullen Senior also put some photos in of Dave (aged 12) with the
Mullens. Larry looks about 6 in the photos and is grinning ear to ear
with a cheeky glint in his eye. What was sad about these photos was
that Larry's little sister (Cecelia, I believe) died not long after the
photos were taken. This obviously devastated the family.

I eventually gave the pics back to Dave to send back to Larry Snr., it
would have been rude of me to keep hold of them. I was going to say
that that was in the days when you can scan pics onto the net, but I
wouldn't want milk something that is, actually very private. I was just
honoured that Dave, Larry Jnr and Snr did that for me.

Cheers,

JIMBO (GUTTED AFTER SEING DEPECHE MODE IN LONDON - IT WAS A HALF HEARTED
SHAMBLES!)
