Since everyone in the last couple of weeks has given their opinion of the Best
of album, I would like to state my opinion. Right off- I am thrilled! The
actual best of album will be just fine, but since I already own all of these
songs, I dont know how often i would use it. I am sure I will though. But...
with the Sweetest Thing, and the songs going with that coming out with the
Best Of, it will absolutely be worth buying. First off, I dont think i have
heard any of these songs all. I am only fourteen, so I missed when they came
out in the 80's. And the only way to buy these songs is to buy them one at a
time, with the Joshua Tree singles(and before, i am presuming), which I have
know idea where to get. And even if i did, I certainly would spend a lot of
money doing it. So when I heard that these songs were coming with the best of,
I was hysterical. If buying an album with absolutely great songs on it means
that I get songs that I have never even heard, it is totally worth it.
On a side note, it seems to me that lately Wire has gotten somewhat bitter.
Theres a lot of fighting back and forth about trivial things. About how people
spell things, and so forth. Do we really need to bicker back and forth about
these things? I know life is not always happy, but can't we vent in more
healthy ways? Like punching the wall, for instance( it was a joke for those
who may be confused)? Just a thought.
Oh yeah, theres a teacher in my school who absolutely loves U2, and I have him
next term. Anyways, he has a Joshua Tree and an Achtung Baby poster in his
room hanging up... I always pass that class, and grin as I walk past...Its
nice to see that SOMEBODY at our high school has good taste.
