Let me start out by saying that you will not be disappointed!!!!!!
The boys did it justice. They retained that innocent quality and feel of
the original version while adding some beautiful echo guitar melodies via
the Edge. Bono's voice sounds strained in spots but he stays within the
boundries allowed by the song........only breaking into his now famous
'falsetto' once or twice. I heard the song via the 'net' so i imagine that
Adam's bass will sound better on the radio.
In my opinion it appears that a conscious effort was put forth to retain
the most endearing aspect of the song......its' simplicity. I gotta give
them credit, it would have been very tempting to dress it up with all the
new technology available but someone gave them some good advice.
I don't want to sway anyone's opinion with this reveiw but if this version
does not 'make it' with the radio and music fans in
general..................they are either smoking something or have been
brain-washed by Master P and the likes of Marilyn Manson. If nothing else
we have another gem to add to uor collection.
Wish I could relive that moment when I heard it for the first time!! Hope
you remember it.
