It does seem to be a bit sad that the forward looking U2 put out a greatest
hits. BUT it can be done and done right.
Midnight Oil the great Australian band that just like U2 has been around for
20 odd years, has also produced great hits and plays with just as much
passion (just in a different way) and is even more political than U2 (The
lead singer Peter Garret is president of the Australian Conservation
Foundation). Last year, after a couple of lacklustre albums I thought
they'd had...yes they 'd released a greatest hits album "20,000 watts RSL".
But it was great all their good stuff and some rock'n new ones. And then
this year a new album, "Redneck Wonderland" is imho is one of their best
ever. Great to see them back to strength and playing live is just better.
If the Oils can do it, I trust Bono, the Edge, Larry and Adam can.
