No More Negativity!!! (Long, but you must read!!!)

Hello Wireland, how are you all. People of WIRE, we all have a right to
express our opinions. My problem with this whole debate is that many
out there are being too negative and not respecting others opinions. I
have to admit, I too get upset when someone says that U2 is washed up
and that is the reason for a greatest hits album. However, those people
are entitled to that point of view. I should and do respect them and
their opinions. I personally do not think they are washed up. That is
my opinion.

If we all recall, after Rattle and Hum ( the album that many critics and
some consumers turned their backs on and noses up at) Bono said that
they had, "to go away and dream it all up again." Look at what happend
when they came back......Achtung Baby!!! This greatest hits project, in
my opionion is a way to give many new fans a chance to sort of catch up
and to give U2 a chance to take another direction and to maybe reassess
their situation as well. They have literally gotten their demons out,
because that is what Zoo TV and POP was about. Saying hello to fame and
at the same time telling fame to go and fuck itself. From the moment
Bono reappeared in late '91with his shades, wild suits, cocky attitude
and media/information overload I knew what it was all about. I remember
a DJ that I saw ZOO TV in Austin back in '92 with say, "That suck, what
about his little vests and cowboys hat!" I though to myself, "You
moron, you forgot to listen to the music and what they were doing." All
I could tell him was, "What time to you come on the radio so I know when
to turn it off!!!" It could have been worse, but I stopped and said to
myself, "that is the guys opinion and it is also his loss."

So to sum up, people of Wire respect each other and each others
opinions. Rattle and Hum in '89 was the end of an era of U2 and '98 is
also the end of an era for U2. Who knows what lies next. A return to
roots. Maybe. A new direction. That too is another possibility. We
have had U2 in the past, we have them now, and when they come back
again, let's give them a big kiss and support them. Buy the hits if you
want to and if you don't just sit back and wait for the new stuff. ONE
LOVE, GUYS. Thanks and God Bless. -----Adrian
