Hello all. Listen..my take is this. U2 wants to be ambitious. In fact
they are currently the most ambitious band on the face of the planet.
What this deal really boils down to is that U2 want to fund their
ambitions. No, this deal doesn't make them sell outs, it makes them
business smart. Everyone will agree when the new tour rolls around and
tickets are only $25 (wild guess;) In my opinion, U2 felt kinda of
sorry for taking $60 a person for PopMart. Not that the price wasn't
worth it. heck, i saw PopMart twice and would have paid to see every
single show...it was awesome! My point is this. U2 knows that they
can't ask their fans to shell out this kind of money every time they
want to blow the house down. This deal gives them some money to burn,
and will give us the opportunity to see the most creative tour with
minimum expense placed on our shoulders. Well, enough rambling. What
do y'all think? All comments are welcome either to WIRE or to my
personal e-mail: [email protected] Thanks.
Achtung.
John.
P.S. I will be buying the 'Best of'
P.S.S. I also feel that the inclusion of the b-sides disc is indicative
that U2 are maintaining their artistic integrity with this release. Was
their any doubt ;)
