The Tampa Bay Mutiny (MLS) will play, followed by the Goo Goo Dolls. Then the
stadium will be demolished to add the parking lot for the new stadium.
U2 played three live shows at the Tampa Bay Stadium over the past 11 years.
It will be sad to see it go, but fans still have their memories of the shows!
Adding to the list of other new stadiums around the country is the new Raymond
James Stadium ... corporate sponsorship and all. I hope to see many U2 shows
there in the future. And the stadium, along with the other new ones, of
course won't be "christened" until U2 play there.
Just a walk thru some Tampa Bay U2 history:
May 3, 1981 Tampa, Fl at the End Zone "Boy Tour"
March 5, 1982 Tampa, Fl at Curtis Hixon Hall "October Tour"
June 22, 1983 Tampa, Fl at Curtis Hixon Hall "War Tour"
May 2, 1985 Tampa, Fl at the USF Sundome "Unforgettable Fire Tour"
December 5, 1987 Tampa, Fl at Tampa Stadium "The Joshua Tree Tour"
October 10, 1992 Tampa, Fl at Tampa Stadium "Zoo TV -- Outside Broadcast Tour"
November 11, 1997 Tampa, Fl at "Hoolihan's" Tampa Stadium "Pop Mart Tour"
I did not go to all of these shows, but if you were or are in the Tampa Bay
Area, and you went to them, I hope this brings back good memories for you!
Cheers!
Axtungbebi!
