Well, I always thought "Sweetest Thing" was one of their best (if not
the best) bsides. However, Bono's voice was really sore in that
track. Thus, I'd assume that it was the only existing version
available because if Bono had another vocal take where his voice was
ok, that would have been used as the bside instead of his sore voice.
So I'd assume that it will be a totally new re-recorded version, but I
could be wrong.
Adam once said that Sweetest Thing was easily a strong enough track to
make the JT album but due to time constraints, the song was not
finished in tiem for the album. My assumption is that they were not
able to "fix" Bono's voice in time.
So I have 2 questions:
1. What is the basis for saying that Sweetest Thing in the greatest
hits album will be from the JT session and not a totally new and
re-recorded version?
What exactly did the rumors say?
2. Is the tracklist news final? Is it really definite that "sweetest
thing" will be in the release? If so that would be great.
Hope someone can enlighten me on this,
Cheers,
J
PS: Actually, I think Bono's sore voice adds a really nice effect to
the tone of the song Sweetest Thing. It is unique and I like it very
much the way it came out in the track
PPS: The "Bad" they will release better be the live version! Same with
Sunday Bloody Sunday, aside from that, I think the studio versions are
just fine
