Re: Greatest Hits Album?!

I haven't read many of the posts on this debate so maybe this thought
has been covered already, but here goes...
I think economically the decision to do the Greatest hits albums is
just as Robbie said...business.
As far as U2's possible mind set in regards to their musical
philosophy and creativity, perhaps just getting this thing over with is
another rung on the ladder to getting OVER the wall holding them in
their past and up and over into their future.
In their frame of mind maybe this a release (pun intended) for U2,
because other less obsessed listeners who compartmentalized them into
the limited styles of the 1 or 2 albums they have, might actually buy
the greatest hits albums and ONLY THEN really realize the variety and
evolution of U2'S music.
Once they find this out, U2 is much freer (free from JT and AB
stereotypes for example) to really dive into new musical realms. And it
would certainly be nice if the (less obsessed) listeners who would then
know them better, would be more open minded to whatever it is they put
out next.
Maybe this is more BATE than SELL OUT? Remember, U2 wonders why they
can't shake US, even with their adventurous attempts to attract the
attention of new listeners with bravely different music.
  Well, I'm SOLD. :) Shary
